The ‘New Normal’ During COVID-19

Peeps👋,
We meet again on this blissful platform that has wild stories, brilliant poems and expert advice from people all around the world—a forum where I too get to give you a piece of what is running through my mind.
A lot has happened since my last post, one of them being the Covid-19 pandemic which hit us earlier this year in March. The COVID-19 is an infectious respiratory and vascular disease transmitted by contact with surfaces or objects contaminated by the causative virus, coronavirus. The condition is characterized by coughs, shortness of breath, fever, loss of appetite and sense of smell, and general body exhaustion.

The arrival of COVID-19 has changed a lot about the way we live, learn and work. Mask wearing may be the most visible change as everyone is required to put on a face mask when in public settings and anywhere they will be around other people. Masks prevent the spread coronavirus, transmitted when the respiratory droplets released during coughing and sneezing lands in the mouth or nose of people and when inhaled into the lungs.
Regular washing or sanitizing of hands has also become the new normal as a way of preventing the spread of COVID-19. There are designated handwashing points in public places where people are expected to wash their hands after blowing their noses, after returning from public spaces or after being in contact with surfaces that most people touch. Social distancing that is, keeping a 6 feet distance from other people and avoiding large groups is also the new normal. These aspects automatically change the way people relate with each other, how they dress and how they act. People have, however, become more conscious of how they conduct themselves to avoid contracting the virus.
The media; radio, print and TV has incorporated COVID-19 related adverts that help raise awareness on the prevention of the spread of coronavirus. You’ll find short visual illustrations and writings on how to wash hands, how to act in public and how to wear face masks. The mass is abreast with the numbers of those affected and deceased by the condition, thanks to mass media. News polls and social media has been and is still a platform for people to give their opinions on the ‘realness’ of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Controversies aside, the COVID-19 pandemic is here with us, and it is likely to remain with us for years demanding that we observe the guidelines put in place to help prevent future outbreaks. So peeps👋, Stay Safe by washing your hands, wearing a face mask and keeping a 1.5m distance from others.

Additionally, avoid large crowds by opting to stay indoors and sharing your views about the COVID-19 pandemic and this post on the comment section below.

  1. Media is playing a BIG role in ensuring that people are abreast with clear protocols laid down to ensure that everyone is safe from coronavirus disease 2019. I especially like the use of animated graphics, which help people in clearly understanding a whole process. Such a nice work🙏🙏
